It contains terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) point clouds, real airborne laser scanning (ALS) data, and simulated ALS datasets generated using the Helios++ ray tracing engine. The dataset covers four forest plots located in the Silesian Beskids, Czech Republic, representing mixed broadleaf and coniferous stands.</p>\n<p data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"1137\">The <strong data-start=\"660\" data-end=\"667\">TLS</strong> data were used to reconstruct biologically realistic 3D tree models, including wood and foliage, using a custom-trained PointNet++ classifier and quantitative structure models (QSMs). The <strong data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"873\">Simulated ALS</strong> point clouds were produced by scanning these reconstructed plots virtually, under conditions matching real flight parameters. The <strong data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1016\">Real ALS</strong> data provide reference observations acquired under leaf-on canopy conditions in July 2019 using a RIEGL LMS-Q780 sensor.</p>\n<p data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1505\">All data are spatially referenced, pre-processed (e.g., height normalisation, classification), and formatted as <code data-start=\"1251\" data-end=\"1257\">.laz</code> files. This dataset enables the validation of virtual laser scanning outputs against real-world observations and supports further research in forest structure analysis, radiative transfer modelling, and synthetic remote sensing dataset Workflow for Detailed 3D Forest Reconstruction: From Terrestrial Laser Scanning to Complex 3D Radiative Transfer Modelling\". It contains terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) point clouds, real airborne laser scanning (ALS) data, and simulated ALS data used for validating 3D forest reconstruction and radiative transfer modelling.\n\nThe data were collected from four circular forest plots (radius = 15 m) located in the Silesian Beskids, Czech Republic. The plots represent typical Central European mixed-species forests, dominated by European beech and Norway spruce. TLS data were used to reconstruct biologically realistic 3D models of individual trees, which were then used to simulate ALS data using the Helios++ ray-tracing engine. The resulting simulated point clouds were validated against real ALS data acquired in July It contains terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) point clouds, real airborne laser scanning (ALS) data, and simulated ALS data used for validating 3D forest reconstruction and radiative transfer modelling.\n\nThe data were collected from four circular forest plots (radius = 15 m) located in the Silesian Beskids, Czech Republic. The plots represent typical Central European mixed-species forests, dominated by European beech and Norway spruce. TLS data were used to reconstruct biologically realistic 3D models of individual trees, which were then used to simulate ALS data using the Helios++ ray-tracing engine. The resulting simulated point clouds were validated against real ALS data acquired in July 2019.\n\n---\n\n## TLS/\n\nThis folder contains terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) point clouds acquired in August (Plot 5) and September (Plots 8, 9, 20) 2019 using a RIEGL VZ-400 scanner. Each plot was scanned from five positions to ensure full coverage. Scans were aligned using reference spheres and voxelised to a resolution of 0.05 m. The flight was conducted by the Flying Laboratory of Imaging Systems. Data were collected at an altitude of 825 m with a pulse repetition frequency of 400 kHz, achieving a point density of up to 10 points/m\u00b2.\n\nThe ALS data were processed using LAStools and include classified and height-normalised point clouds (ground vs. vegetation).
