datacubes record the emergence and growth of this ensemble average obtained from averaging over 36 individual bipolar active regions in the following physical quantities: the continuum intensity, line-of-sight magnetogram, vector magnetogram (Bvec), inclination of the magnetic field (Bvec_inc) and the horizontal components (Bvec_X, Bvec_Y), line-of-sight Dopplergram, horizontal velocity set of 36 carefully selected bipolar solar active regions was identified in the SDO/HMI archive. These active regions were normalised both in space in time. For the normalisation, key points were identified. In the time domain, the key points consisted of the time when a rapid emergence began, the second key time was the time when the maximum magnetic flux was registered. This allowed a linear normalisation of the time axis between 0 (emergence) and 1 (flux maximum). In the spatial domain, the key points consisted of (frame-by-frame detected) barycentres of both (leading and trailing) polarities of the active region. A final product of the average active region was obtained as an ensemble average of the normalised datacubes of the individual active regions, aligning on indicated key points both in time and space. Several observables (continuum intensity, line-of-sight magnetogram, vector magnetogram, line-of-sight Dopplergram, LCT velocity vector, SDO/AIA low-temperature filtergrams) were
